Create Your Own Button Tutorial

For those of you who aren't very "html" savvy customizing your blog can be a bit of a challenge right? I know when I first started blogging, it took me forever to figure out all the codes and stuff to add fun things to my page to make it more "personal"

Well, I thought I might share a few tips, tricks, and codes for adding custom stuff. I'm not going to share the codes all at once but make it more of a series.

So without further redundant explaining. Let's get started.

I love adding buttons to my page for the blogs I like to read daily just so I can have easy access to their pages, instead of using the dashboard. I also like sharing with my readers blogs that I enjoy reading. And lastly I like to support others in the blogging community.
So  to make your very own button for your page it's very simple. First off you need an image that you would like to be your button. I always use photoshop to create my buttons but whatever photo editing program you have, you can design one.(tips below on designing your own button) Once your image is designed, you just need to upload it online somewhere.

Now you need to add a html/java script widget to your page.  Then you will paste this code in the box:

To find your image address code you can right click and select "Copy Image Address" or if you use Photobucket you have to get the "Direct link for layout pages"

WIDTH:
You can change the width of your image to fit where you want it. It goes by pixels, so if you don't know how many pixels just play with the sizes until it's just how you want it.

TEXT AREA:
You can also change the size of your text area with "rows" and "cols" This is the part people click on to get your button code. Just so you know, with this code, when you click in the text box it will automatically select all the text.

By the way, you always want to make your your code has [target="_blank"] that way your aren't directing people away from a site, but rather opening up the link in a new tab/window.

Once you plug in all the info just hit save and there you have our own button.

TIPS FOR DESIGNING YOUR BUTTON:
It's always a good idea to make a few different designs to give people options to decide what they want for their page. And different sizes are always good too. You can always resize other peoples buttons though to fit your page. We'll get to that at another time. Anyways,  a good general width to start with would be 250 pixels, cause you can always adjust the width in the code to make it smaller. As far as your height goes, that depends on if you want a fat rectangle, skinny rectangle, or square. If you need help designing a button for your page, just message me and I can help you out.

If you have any questions, let me know and I can do my best to help you.

{Life Update}

(drinking coffee out my my new coffee mug)
I've been extra busy as of late, I haven't had a whole lot of time to sit and blog. Which I wish I have, oh well I guess today I can play catch up since I'm able to sit and relax at home today.

Lots of exciting things have been happening. Josiah is now potty trained. He still has accidents sometimes, especially when he is busy playing. He loves counting. He counts to 10 really well, then after that he starts over at 8. He is the funniest little thing. He is really trying to figure out his independence, being a bit more rebellious. Over all though he is still a good kid. He is getting better at his drums. He LOVES to play, he especially love playing for people.

Jocelyn will be ONE YEAR OLD in 5 days!!!! She seems to be getting smarter by the minute. She isn't that interested in trying to walk but she does LOVE to stand up. She has three teeth and I'm pretty sure she is getting another one cause she has been drooling like crazy. She loves clapping and dancing. She interested in everything, always seems like she is trying to figure out how stuff works.

Chris and I have been exploring new business opportunities. He really has an interest in video editing, so he has been watching tutorials and learning all that he can about that so we can expand "Awkward Eye Photography" with "Awkward Eye Media" I have decided to start creating tutorials for different things, make-up, hair, photoshop, light room, etc... I was even thinking I might create some knitting, crocheting, crafty tutorial videos.

My photography schedule has been really busy. I mean REALLY BUSY. I'm completely booked in June including a trip to New York to shoot a wedding. I'm really excited and feel so blessed to have so much business.

Chris and I have also been dreaming big, and are wanting to do something a bit life changing and dream chasing. I won't reveal it quite yet but when more things fall into place I'll share the news.

"And when you dream, dream big
As big as the ocean blue
'Cause when you dream it might come true
When you dream, dream big"

Make your own art piece..... CHEAP!!!

I don't know where I found the link to this website but I'm excited I did and I'm excited to share with you.

Getting a large print is pretty pricey but you can make a cool piece of art really cheap and quick.

I took this photo:

And turned it into this:

I printed it out on 20 sheets of paper then using double sided tape, taped it onto foam poster boards. Then cut off the excess. I decided to keep the white borders in between cause I liked the way it looked. I was done in about 20 minutes. And it added a special touch to my living room. The photo is from my trip to New York I took earlier this year. I love it and I'll probably be making more. The final size is 52 inches by 32 1/2 inches.

**EDIT**
I completely forgot to add that I hot glued hanging brackets to the back to hang it ") Easy Peasy!

I've been blogging for about 2 years now, and had no clue what "RSS Feeds" were until tonight. Chris was checking out my site (admiring it) And he says to me, why don't you add a rss feed for like esty to your site. I was like "huh?" Then he showed me "D YAY! I love that I can add feeds from some of my favorite sites directly to my page. So incase you are interested in what I'm interested in, I added the feeds on the bottom left column. (Shout out to my Hubby!! LOVE YOU! And Thanks!)

the designer in me...

I'm thoroughly satisfied with the way this new logo came out for my lovely friend Ashtin, for her photography business (Ashtin Paige Photography)
I've been working on her logo for a while playing with different designs and ideas but this morning it finally hit my exactly how I wanted it. Good thing Ashtin likes it too :P

Any who, here is the design I came up with:

Originally I had the "wing" a little different, but my hubby was throwing some ideas to me and I decided that adding her initials as the wing would be a nice personal touch.

Here is my original sketch:

New Project!

I recently was inspired by my dear friend Talia, to try making some shoes for my baby girl.  I made one pair that was black yarn with white sparkly yarn for the inside, but they ended up being a bit to small so I gave them to a friend of mine and I forgot to take a photo. But this is the second pair I made. They are so cute and I love them on Jocelyn. I would have taken a photo of her wearing them but she was sleeping at the time.
